Rainy Days and Rainy Nights
Sounds like a 70’s song title, doesn’t it? Something that BJ Thomas would sing.
The forecast is for rain and cold temperatures every day and night for the next 10 days straight. Talk about a major depression. Clouds and shivers each morning. Bad traffic because these numbskulls can’t drive on wet roads. It’s dark at 4:30 - before we even leave the office to drive home.
Blah.
1 commentSurprise! The Winner is Obama!
Wow - I had a funny feeling that Obama would win this election. What a surprise for a lot of people around here. This state is sodark red that it completely overwhelms the few blue votes that happened in the larger metro areas.
At least the Vice President Elect is a basically good although bitter man. If anything bad happens to the President (not that I expect anything bad but that’s why we HAVE a VP) we will be in good hands - not like that Caribou Barbie the other guy picked. OMFG!
No commentsBuck and Jack
My dog Buck and the Jack-o-Lantern that I carved. I think it turned out pretty good. The pumpkin was beautiful and a bargain at $5.
It took over an hour to cut out the seeds and carve the face. The candle showed a lot brighter as the night got darker.
It was fun and I wish I could have done a few more. Maybe next year I’ll plan for more pumpkins and decorate the yard a little more. My neighbors don’t do much with manicured, sterile lawns, but I like to change it up for the seasons and the holidays.
No commentsHome Stretch for the Candidates
We have one week left before Election Day. The candidates are busy chasing certain states. They don’t seem to care about here - haven’t seen any of them here. This state is historically a “red” state and tend to vote republican in national elections. So I am surprised that Obama didn’t even try to get a few votes from us.
The best thing about this coming election is that a lot of people are registering to vote and I bet the turnout will be record setting high numbers.
No commentsCredit Crunches
The Wall Street problems have been going on for 3 weeks now and even with the big bail out from Congress we are having terrible problems with credit and loans.
Some good advice I heard on CNN to help get through this recession was:
- Stop spending money.
- Pay off your debt.
- Keep your job.
Everyone needs to buckle down and do what they can to not have their house foreclosed and keep their jobs. Hopefully all this credit crisis will be over in the spring. But we have several cold months of winter to get through first.
No commentsTo Market To Market
Shopping at the same grocery store week after week gets boring, so today I decided to go try a different store. Usually I shop at Kroger. There are 3 Krogers within just a couple miles of my house in different directions. I do most of my weekly shopping at Kroger, and if I need just a couple things, there is a Food Lion within walking distance of my house. The problem with Food Lion is that their fresh fruit and vegetables are not very appealing, and their meat selection is very limited.
So today, I decided to try a Publix. The new Publix stores are very nice - large stores, well lit and all the grocery items well displayed. The sale items were easy to find - they were in bins at the front of the store and on the aisle endcaps. I found a few things that are unique to the Publix and not available at my Kroger. So it is good to know that if I need them I can get them at Publix. But the Publix is much farther away then any of the Krogers, so I doubt I’ll go there weekly.
No commentsLittle Fish in Big Bowl
On impulse I went down the pet supplies aisle of Wally’s Big Mart and was attracted to a starter set for freshwater fish. It was only $10 and the fish are only about $1 each, so I decided to build up the nurturing side of myself and buy it.
I bought the bowl with some colored gravel, a fish net, and a little bottle of water conditioner. then I bought four fancy guppies. All males. I’m not wanting to deal with baby guppies quite yet.
So this will be a little adventure for the 5 of us. Wish me luck!
No commentsLazy People Drive Me Nuts
Silly me. I thought that people are supposed to take the shopping carts to those little cart corrals in the parking lot. Not just shove them over on the grass behind your car. The fat lazy biotch could use the exercise, and maybe she would lose that extra 150 pounds packed into those Capris.
No commentsPong
Did you know that the very first video game was invented by people at Magnavox? You had to own a Magnavox TV to hook it up and play the game called Pong. We owned a big Magnavox color television set in a large wood cabinet with stereo speakers built in that had the place of honor in the living room - in front of the fireplace.
The game of Pong was two paddles and a bouncing ball on the TV screen. That was back in the 1960s. We’ve come a long way, baby!
